~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The September meeting was held at the Truckee Tahoe Airport.
Chairman BJ Yuke opened the meeting. Those attending were: Pat Northrop, Barbara Northrop, Judy Mayorga, Shirley Ellis, B.J. Yuke, Laurel Lippert and Alanna McClellan.
Secretary report: A check from Airport Manager David Gotschall, was received by Judy Mayorga which was then handed to our treasurer in the amount of $873.00 for the Meet and Greet program. Our members accomplished a total of 72.75 hours of volunteer work.
The Treasurer, Shirley Ellis will put the money into the savings account for future scholarships.
Under Old Business: Run down of our upcoming Chapter birthday dinner to be held October 15th at Lahontan. Members have a choice of steak or sea bass at $55.00 per person. Call BJ if you haven’t sent in your reservation. 530-583-9279
Reno Air Races worked by members saw many changes this year, the major one being no more extra tickets, etc. Our pay went up to $8.00/hour instead, extra money for our treasury. We are grateful to the Reno Area Chapter for including us as workers; this has been their volunteer work program for many years. BJ, Bonnie, Alanna, Judy, Lois, and Toodie worked this year. The programs booth and the RARA Foundation tent were the jobs available……we all had a great time, and Dene` Cabot-Fence coordinator from the Reno Area Chapter, did an outstanding job keeping us all headed in a direction. She also provided transportation at the end of the day to our respective cars, greatly appreciated.
Volunteer reports from TRK noise abatement program included BJ who ask Dave to thank us in the newspapers. Dave believes pilot-to-pilot was more receptive than having employees informing visiting pilots.
New Business: New members, all members should encourage new members by following up and encouraging them to participate and join. The Future Women Pilots program is also a priority.
Alanna is doing our Book on each member; she is working on the 30th Anniversary issue, however it won’t be completed by the October party. Be sure to send her your updated information right away.
BJ is requesting we all make a batch of Xmas cookies for the Airport staff during the holiday’s, put a note saying it’s from the Lake Tahoe Chapter.
The next meeting will be January 25th at Laurel Lippert’s house in Ponderosa area. We will car pool from the airport parking lot at 5:30 PM. Pat Northrop will show DVD by Patty Wagstaff and runway incursions.
BJ will hold a brief business meeting before dinner on the 15th, thus the meeting/dinner is tax deductible for each of us.
