Learning to Fly?

FAA Minimum for Airplanes - Single Engine Land

 

Must be 16 years of age, must able to read, speak, write and understand the English language.

Must pass a medical examination (Class 3)

Must pass a written test - 70% pass required.

Must pass an oral test.

Must pass a flight test.

Must have had the following minimum flight experience:

     40 hours flight time which includes the following:

          20 hrs flight training from an authorized instructor.

          10 hrs solo flight experience.

             3 hrs cross-country flight training (instruction) and

             5 hrs solo cross-country flight time.

             3 hrs night flight training.

             3 hrs flight training / instrument reference only.

             3 hrs flight training preparation for the flight test.

 

Must be flight proficient in the following:


Preflight preparation - Preflight procedures - Preflight procedures - Airport base operations - Takeoffs, landings, and go-arounds - Performance maneuvers - Ground reference maneuvers - Navigation - Slow flight and stalls - Basic instrument maneuvers - Emergency operations - Night operations - Postflight procedures.
